The original painting was done as a wedding present for a young couple that I had recently befriended. They said it was their favorite wedding present. :-) The small Malachite stone was matted beneath the original painting in the same frame.
I'm a mostly self-taught artist, currently residing in Humboldt County, CA. My works are mostly done in watercolor but vary in styles from photo-realism to abstract. Some of my sea life themed works are influenced by having spent 5 years living in the San Juan Islands, WA. I have not had a prolific, nor successful art career, but I envision that all changing in next couple years. I intend to use Fine Art America as the means to offer prints of my work. If you'd like to see a broader representation of my art, I invite you to look up the user name coryart on youtube and see the video "Some of my Watercolor Art over the years".

TY Deb, Yes, I love rocks too. My pockets are always full (and then some) whenever I visit the beach or a good river spot. I also happen to live a few miles away from a large gem and mineral store and museum. That is where I got these nice malachite pieces. Sometimes I will collect a rock just for the sake of having a memento of a good time with friends or family. I'm glad my painting sparked those fond memories for you. :-) -Cory
